Great-West Life’s smartPATH 2.0 recognized by international communications awards competitions

Interactive retirement planning program wins in education website and multi-media categories

Winnipeg, MB June 3, 2014 .  .  . SmartPATH 2.0, Great-West Life’s interactive online retirement education, planning and saving resource for group retirement plan members, was recently recognized by international communications award competitions for its excellence as an innovative education solution.

“We created smartPATH 2.0 to help employers engage plan members in a memorable way and to encourage those members to embrace planning for their financial futures,” said Jeff Aarssen, Senior Vice-President of Group Retirement Services for Great-West Life. “This international recognition highlights the great value this resource provides to our plan sponsors and their members.”

The international Communicator Awards recognized smartPATH 2.0 with two Awards of Distinction in the categories of interactive multimedia education and financial services websites. For 20 years the Communicator Awards have been celebrating innovation and creative excellence and receive thousands of entries from around the world. Judges are selected by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only group of top-tier professionals, including executives from organizations such as Disney, Conde Nast and Lockheed Martin.

SmartPATH 2.0 also received a Silver award from the international Summit Creative Awards competition in the category of education website.

The Summit Creative Awards have been acknowledging excellence in marketing and communications for 20 years. This year it received entries from 24 countries. The Board of Judges included creative directors from agencies around the world. These awards identify innovative and creative concepts, strong executions, and the ability to communicate and persuade.

Presented in a first-person point of view, smartPATH 2.0’s immersive virtual neighbourhood can be customized to reflect the details of each participating employer’s group retirement and savings plan. Informative touch points throughout the experience educate members about their specific group retirement and savings plan, while encouraging and facilitating enrolment. Responsive design makes the website accessible from desktop computers, tablets and mobile devices.

A video highlights the benefits of offering smartPATH 2.0 to Great-West Life plan members.

The Simply speaking educational video series included in the digital content strategy for smartPATH 2.0 and featured on Great-West Life’s Group Retirement Services YouTube channel was also recognized with a bronze Summit Creative Award. This educational series delivers complex financial concepts in an easy-to-understand, entertaining fashion.
